What is Pediatric Rehabilitation?

Pediatric rehabilitation combines standard child care with specific rehabilitation strategies, such as Bobath and Vojta methods. This approach is used to rehabilitate conditions like cerebral palsy, congenital torticollis, brachial plexus injuries, meningomyelocele, osteogenesis imperfecta, neuromuscular disorders, spina bifida, traumatic brain injuries, and childhood rheumatic diseases.

It is important to note that children are not simply "small adults" in rehabilitation. Since a child has not yet acquired certain skills, the aim is not to restore lost abilities but to help the child acquire abilities compatible with life.

Brief Objectives of Pediatric Rehabilitation

  1. Minimize potential movement disorders in children.
  2. Prevent and reduce the development of musculoskeletal disorders.
  3. Ensure the child can act independently in daily living activities.
  4. Educate the family and guide them in the child’s training process.
